June 6 - D-Day Remberance
The Shepherd Who Laid Down His Life
“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11, KJV)
Reflection
On this day of remembrance we honor those who stepped into danger so others could live in freedom. D-Day reminds us that liberty has always carried a cost measured in courage sacrifice and blood. Jesus described Himself as the Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep. His words frame sacrifice not as tragedy alone but as purposeful love. True leadership moves toward risk when protection is required. The beaches of Normandy echo a deeper spiritual reality: freedom is never preserved by comfort. Christ’s model of sacrificial leadership calls us to remember that love acts decisively when others depend on it.
Implementation Tip
Pause today to reflect on the cost paid by others for freedoms you now enjoy. Offer gratitude intentionally through prayer conversation or tangible service. Consider where you are being called to protect guide or serve someone at personal cost. Resist the instinct to choose comfort when responsibility requires courage and conviction. Lead in a way that safeguards others rather than advancing only your own interest. Teach those under your influence that sacrifice is strength not weakness and duty is honorable. When leaders embrace shepherd-like courage communities flourish trust deepens responsibility matures and freedom remains guarded with integrity.
All this week, we have been airing a special program on JesusSaid.tv commemorating D-Day and the work of a woman who witnessed D-Day first hand, Madame Samone Renaud. She became known as “The Mother of Normandy” - we aired a documentary of her efforts to honor those who died to bring liberation to her and her family.
